I recommend to export the final vertorama also into a TIFF file, as the continuous saving of JPEG files would worsen gradually the quality of your image. I experienced that the correction of the lens distortions prior to producing the vertorama dramatically improved the quality of stitching.Īfter those basic adjustments I transform the adjusted Raw files into 8bit/16bit TIFF files before I run AutoPrano Pro. I always shoot in RAW and as first step I make some basic corrections in Lightroom like adjusting white balance, correcting white spots / black spots and very important correcting lens distortions either directly in Lightroom or with the tool PTLens. I sometimes have problems with large images in Panoramique (not vertorama) my computer runs out of memory!

I agree with pauls tip, i'll often build a web version (72 dpi jpg) first to see if the idea works and is worth the time for a full hi-res build.

I used to use Autopano pro, where the power wasn't up to Tiff, however now they have a super upgrade Autopano Giga, I can use Tiffs in 32 bit files, you'll need a super computer to process though!ītw, I sometimes do 72 dpi jpeg fast merges just to see if its worth bothering doing a full size version.

I do shoot jpeg for sports(faster buffer), or anything that needs rapid editing like photojournalism. I'd rather process for the shot rather than stick a random style on the picture.

Yeah I shoot raw as well, mostly just so that I can change white balance if I need to, but also so that I can change color profiles and such in post processing rather than "picture styles" and such that you do in camera. Raw files have a greater tonal range to work with. BTW try to limit the number of times you save or save as the same JPEG image, Everytime you do so you hurt the quality of the image. If you shoot in JPEG and you retouch(photoshop) the image you always run the risk of 8 bit banding( the lines that will not go away). I always shoot RAW, I then convert the image from raw to a TIFF file, (16bit). When shooting Vertoramas what kind of pictures do you take? RAW or JPEG?
